Tottenham Hotspur reach an agreement with Barcelona over Clement Lenglet loan deal

Tottenham have reached an agreement with Barcelona to sign French defender Clement Lenglet on loan.

According to 90min, the Premier League club are looking to sign Lenglet after the collapse of their move for Inter Milan‘s Alessandro Bastoni.

Discussions between Spurs and Barca have progressed significantly since, and, according to the report, Tottenham have agreed to a one-season loan deal with Barça. The deal also reportedly includes an option-to-buy.

Antonio Conte’s side have beaten off competition from both Marseille and Roma to secure his signature, with Lenglet agreeing to the move after being told that he has no place in Xavi’s plans at camp Nou.

Lenglet’s Barca career began very well, but his progress has stalled more recently, with the defender making a few La Liga appearances since Xavi took over as manager.

He will become Spurs’ fourth signing of the summer after Ivan Perisic, Yves Bissouma and Fraser Forster. The north London side are also hopeful of confirming Richarlison’s arrival soon.

His signing could spell the end of Joe Rodon’s Spurs career. The defender has struggled for game time at Tottenham and is reportedly wanted by AS Roma.
