Luke Shaw to sign new contract at Old Trafford
Although he has two years left in his current deal, Manchester United are keen to tie Luke Shaw to a long-term contract – which would get him close to the club’s top earners – owing to his current form.
Shaw has been stupendous for the Red Devils this season which has helped them to have a great run in the Premier League.
Besides, his good run of form has earned him a place in the England national team for the World Cup Qualifiers.
United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer wants to make sure the former Southampton star remains an integral part of his plans.
David Moyes offers update on Lingard’s future
Jesse Lingard looks to have found his feet since sealing his loan switch to West Ham from Old Trafford in the winter transfer window.
The English midfielder’s impressive form didn’t miss to catch Gareth Southgate’s attention, who recalled him for the upcoming World Cup Qualifiers. Furthermore, the Hammers faithful want the club to sign Lingard permanently from the Red Devils.
However, West Ham manager David Moyes has said the club would decide Lingard’s future at the end of this season.
“We have not thought about that really, we have not taken it any further at the moment,” Moyes said.
“We have him on loan and he is doing a good job for us just now, I think we will discuss that and probably look at it at the end of the season.
“But it is not something that we have taken any further than the situation we are in just now.”
Scholes points out United’s problem without Paul Pogba
Paul Scholes has said that United lack dynamism without Paul Pogba in midfield.
The French World Cup winner made a stunning return by scoring the decisive goal in the Europa League game against AC Milan, which helped the Red Devils progress to the last eight.
However, it hasn’t been plain sailing for United whenever Pogba wasn’t on the field as they had struggled for creativity from the middle of the park.
Scholes said,”I think they have really struggled to get the balance right over the season.
“I think playing them two holding midfielders has really helped the defence, the two centre-halves – who I don’t think one-on-one are the quickest or the best defenders, but having those two in there has kept them solid.
“They’ve looked really good defensively, but that’s taken away from the forward players I think, the lack of creativity in there. Pogba’s been out for six weeks, he’s a big miss in there.”
