Brazilian midfielder Willian is all set to join Corinthians this summer.

According to Sky Sports, the midfielder is willing to tear up his lucrative Arsenal contract in order to join the Brazilian club on 70% less wages.

Willian’s decision will end up saving Arsenal £20 million.

The midfielder has two years left on his £240,000 a week deal but he has chosen to play for Corinthians instead of sitting on the bench at the Premier League club and raking in the money.

The former Chelsea midfielder will not ask for a payoff either.

The Brazilian joined Arsenal from Chelsea on a free transfer but he has been a major disappointment for the Gunners.

Willian has struggled to replicate his Chelsea form and he has been heavily criticized for his lacklustre performances.

The fact that Arsenal offered a massive contract to a player who is on the decline attracted a lot of criticism from the fans as well but Willian’s incredible gesture will certainly earn him deserved plaudits from the Arsenal fan base.

Willian is clearly not the player he used to be and a move to Corinthians would be ideal for him at this stage of his career. The Brazilian is struggling to cope with the demands and intensity of the Premier League right now and taking a step down would be ideal for the player.

The Gunners have already signed a creative midfielder in Martin Odegaard this summer and Willian would have struggled for regular game time at the London club.
