The Cameroonian shot-stopper is closing on a transfer to Nerazzurri.

Ajax goalkeeper Andre Onana is set to pen a new contract with Serie A giants Inter Milanaccording to reliable Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano.

Although the 25-year-old expressed his desire to return to Barcelona, Inter have won the race for his signature.

Onana’ future has been a subject of speculation for a while, with his current deal expiring at the end of the season.

Arsenal and Barca had registered their interest but the Nerazzurri emerged as the frontrunners to sign him on a free transfer next summer.

Onana’s career took a turn for the worse after he was handed a nine-month ban by UEFA for doping earlier this year.

He returned to action last month and has made two appearances thus far in KNVB Cup and Champions League.

The Cameroonian international rose through the youth ranks of Barca before moving to Ajax in 2015.

He has won two Eredivisie titles with the Amsterdam outfit and was an integral part of the side that enjoyed a memorable run in the Champions League 2018/19 season, where they reached the semi-finals.

Inter are expected to part ways with long-standing keeper Samir Handanovic when his contract runs out next summer. Despite his decade-long services to the Nerazzurri, he is past his prime and should not be the ideal option moving forward.

Onana would be a great fit for the defending Italian champions, who have everything but a promising and young shot-stopper.
