Roma are closing in on the signing of Granit Xhaka from Arsenal this summer.

The Swiss international has been linked with the Italian outfit for weeks now, and it appears that the transfer is now close to completion.

According to Gianluca Di Marzio, the deal should be finalized in the coming days.

Jose Mourinho wants to add more depth to his midfield, and the 28-year-old Arsenal midfielder could prove to be a quality addition.

The Italian Serie A outfit are looking to rebuild their squad, and they will need more quality and experience in the midfield.

Despite his struggles at the London club, the Swiss international is a quality player, and he will be hoping to regain his form and confidence under Mourinho.

Since joining the club from Borussia Monchengladbach, he has had a tough time at Arsenal, and Xhaka will be hoping for a fresh start in Italy now.

The low intensity of the Italian league could suit him perfectly.

He will add calmness and composure in the middle of the park. Furthermore, he will help out the side defensively. The Arsenal midfielder is excellent from the long-range as well, and he will add a new dimension to Mourinho’s attack.

The Portuguese manager has replaced Fonseca, and it will be interesting to see if he can guide Roma to trophies next season.

The 28-year-old is not the only Premier League player Mourinho is eyeing this summer, and he is believed to be keen on a move for Rui Patricio as well.
