Atalanta 5-2 Cagliari: Lammers scores his first goal in Atalanta masterclass

The win sends Atalanta to top of the Serie A table.

Atalanta have produced a thumping win against Cagliari at Atleti Azzurri d’Italia.

Luis Muriel scored the opening goal, fetching on centre-back Palomino’s through ball. While the goal stood out as offside at first, the decision was eventually overturned by VAR.

The visitors found the equalizer with the help of Diego Godin. The former Inter Milan defender scored his first goal for Cagliari.

The equaliser was fleeting as Atalanta Skipper Papu Gomez put his side ahead with a brilliant goal. Assisted by Duvan Zapata, the goal looked like a replica of the Argentine’s strike against Torino weeks ago.

Mario Pasalic and Zapata went on to score two more goals to give the home side an unassailable lead before the break.

However, Cagliari’s Joao Pedro found the team’s second goal sooner in the second half.

At the other end, Cagliari goalkeeper Alessio Cragno was kept busy by La Dea’s attackers as the Italian was forced into some stunning saves.

With only ten minutes left in the clock, Sam Lammers, who came off the bench, scored a fantastic goal to put the game to bed.

The Dutch youngster scored the goal, his first for Atalanta in Serie A, in an eye-catching fashion, wriggling past the defenders to find the nets.

Papu Gomez looks to be in great form as he has scored four goals in Serie A this season.

Atalanta have now cruised to the top of the Serie A table after winning all of their games thus far.
