Bologna

Bologna’s woeful form in 2022 continued last time out as they were beaten 3-0 by Lazio. Goals from Ciro Immobile and Mattia Zaccagni gave Maurizio Sarri’s side the comfortable win and extended Bologna’s winless run to five games.

The hosts are currently sitting 13th in the Serie A table, but are just seven points ahead of Cagliari in 18th place.

Their current placement and form has been down to a porous defence that is conceding goals at an alarming rate. They have conceded 40 goals at this stage of the season, which is the most they have conceded at this stage in any season since the 1955/56 season.

Also contributing to their problems is their toothless attack that has scored only one goal in the last 396 minutes of play. Siniša Mihajlović’s side must therefore improve quickly if they are to guarantee their top-flight status this season.

Possible Bologna starting line-up

Lukasz Skorupski, Kevin Bonifazi, Luis Binks, Arthur Theate, Andreas Skov Olsen, Roberto Soriano, Nicolas Dominguez, Michel Aebischer, Marko Arnautovic, Riccardo Orsolini.

Injured: Nicolas Dominguez, Kingsley Michael, Federico Santander

Doubtful: None

Suspended: Gary Medel, Matthias Svanberg,

Spezia

After an impressive January that saw them win three of their four league games, and saw their coach Thiago Motta win the coach of January, Spezia sees to be back down to earth.

The visitors have won none of their games in February (D1, L1) with their last outing, seeing them lose 2-1 to Fiorentina.

As the youngest Serie A side on average age, they should rebound quickly and make a fair effort towards improving on their league record as matchday underdogs (W5, D3, L13).

To their credit, they have scored in a club-record eight consecutive SA matches (W4, D2, L2). That record sees them come into this round sitting in 14th place and in no danger of relegation.

Possible Spezia starting line-up

Ivan Provedel; Kelvin Amian, Martin Erlic, Salvador Ferrer, Bastoni Simeone; Arkadiusz Reca, Viktor Kovalenko, Jacopo Sala, Dimitrios Nikolaou, Emmanuel Gyasi; Daniele Verde.

Injured: None

Doubtful: None

Suspended: None
