Fiorentina

Fiorentina made it two huge wins in two games when they beat Spezia on Monday.

The hosts who had defeated 3-2 Atalanta in the Coppa Italia last week, followed that win with a 2-1 away win at Spezia. The win was secured courtesy of goals from Krzysztof Piatek and Sofyan Amrabat and was enough to keep the hosts’ European dreams alive.

With their Vincenzo Italiano’s side come into this round of fixtures sitting in eighth place, three points behind Lazio in sixth and five ahead of their visitors who are currently in fifth place.

After winning their last two games against Atalanta, they will be confident of another win here as they attempt to do a league double over the Bergamo-based side for the first time since the 2015/16 season.

Possible Fiorentina starting line-up

Pietro Terracciano; Alvaro Odriozola, Nikola Milenkovic, Igor, Cristiano Biraghi; Giacomo Bonaventura, Sofyan Amrabat, Youssef Maleh; Jonathan Ikone, Krzysztof Piatek, Riccardo Sottil.

Atalanta

Atalanta picked up a rare win when they defeated Olympiacos in the Europa League knockout/playoffs stage on Thursday.

After falling behind in the eighth minute via a Tiquinho Soares goal, Le Dea bounced back in the second half to win the game thanks to a quick brace from Berat Djimsiti.

The win ensured that Gian Piero Gasperini’s side are in control of their Europa League destiny ahead of the return leg in Greece next week.

But in the league, the visitors are struggling badly. Their last league outing saw them lose further ground in the race for the top four as they were held to a 1-1 draw with Juventus. Before their draw with Juve, they had lost to lowly Cagliari (2-1) and had drawn with both Lazio (0-0) and Inter (0-0).

As a result, they come into this tie with just one win in their last seven league games. Such poor form has left them sitting just outside of the top four, albeit with a game in hand.

Given the form of the other teams around them, they will know that any further dropped points could see them fighting to get back into the top six. They will be desperate to avoid such a scenario and will do all they can to win this game.

Possible Atalanta starting line-up

Marco Sportiello; Berat Djimsiti, Merih Demiral, Rafael Toloi; Hateboer, Marten De Roon, Remo Freuler, Davide Zappacosta; Matteo Pessina; Jeremie Boga, Luis Muriel

Injured: Josip Iličić, Aleksey Miranchuk, Jose Palomino, Duvan Zapata

Doubtful: None
