Bayern Munich

Bayern Munich return to action against Greuther Furth in Round 23 of the German Bundesliga in what is billed a top vs bottom affair.

The Bavarian giants play host to bottom-placed Greuther Furth in the Allianz Arena and are currently in an uncharacteristically rough patch.

The defending champions have gone two games without a win. They first lost to Bochum in the Bundesliga round 21 last weekend, and then almost losing to RB Salzburg in the Champions League, until a 90th-minute strike from Kingsley Coman saved their blushes.

They will now hope to return to winning ways when they lock horns with Furth and can be thankful for their characteristic dominance, which sees them sitting at the top of the summit six points clear of second-placed Borussia Dortmund.

With four wins in their last four games with the visitors, they will fancy their chances of getting a couple of goals in this game.

Possible Bayern Munich starting line-ups

Sven Ulreich, Benjamin Pavard, Niklas Sule, Dayot Upamecano, Lucas Hernandez, Marcel Sabitzer, Joshua Kimmich, Serge Gnabry, Thomas Muller, Kingsley Coman, Robert Lewandowski.

Injured: Leon Goretzka, Alphonso Davies, Manuel Neuer

Doubtful: Jamal Musiala

Suspended: None

Greuther Furth

Greuther Furth will travel to the Allianz Arena to face FC Bayern Munich on Sunday.

The bottom-placed side have only lost once in their last five matches but still remain rooted to the spot at the bottom of the Bundesliga table. Their job to climb out of the abyss will only be made tougher with a match against the league leaders Bayern.

Stefan Leitl’s team enter this tie off the back of an impressive 2-1 win over Mainz 05 and if their quest to remain in the German top flight is going to be a success, such mettle will be required of them going Into the final stages of the season.

The reverse fixture back in September 2021 in Round Six did not end in Furth’s favour, as the Bavarian outfit ran away with the win. The visitors will be In search of a first win against Bayern in their last four encounters.

An unlikely win against Bayern will not take Greuther Furth out of the trenches, but will certainly throw the league wide open. And given the home teams recent struggles in their last two games, the possibility of this scenario remains feasible.

Possible Furth starting line-up

Andreas Linde; Marco Meyerhöfer, Sebastian Griesbeck, Nick Viergever, Gian-Luca Itter; Paul Seguin, Max Christiansen, Timothy Tillman; Jeremy Dudziak; Jamie Leweling, Branimir Hrgota.

Injured: Marius Funk, Gideon Jung, Kehr

Doubtful: Ngankam

Suspended: None
