The Nerazzurri boss could leave San Siro days after lifting the Scudetto.

Inter Milan manager Antonio Conte has been linked with a shock exit from San Siro just days after guiding the Nerazzurri to the Serie A title.

It could be due to Inter president Steven Zhang and owners Suning informing the club’s hierarchy to lower the wage bill and rely on player sales to regulate the cash flow.

Conte is said to be against the idea of being frugal in the transfer window as he feels that Inter can compete at the highest level only if they spend big on new signings.

The Italian’s feelings are true as Inter managed to end the dominance in Serie A with the help of expensive buys like Romelu Lukaku and Achraf Hakimi.

The report also adds that Conte would meet the club president in the coming days to discuss the termination of his contract.

The former Chelsea boss took charge of Inter in the summer of 2019 and has since been influential behind the club’s renaissance, eventually winning the Scudetto after a decade.

However, Conte’s spell at Inter, as no one would have expected, could be a fleeting one.

The domino effect could be more serious than one could think if the Italian opts to leave this summer as players like Lukaku had sealed their moves to Inter only with the backing of Conte. The Belgian striker has also been linked with a move to top clubs like Chelsea and Manchester City.

Inter are said to be looking for alternatives should they part ways with Conte this summer. Maurizio Sarri and Max Allegri have been cited as the potential options, with the latter looking keen on a managerial return after a two-year hiatus. Furthermore, Allegri has plenty of suitors in Juventus and Real Madrid.

Conte has also been recently approached by Premier League outfit Tottenham who are in search of a new manager.
