Mayoral doubled the lead for the visitors after scoring a wonderful curler and minutes later he also won a penalty. Henrikh Mkhitaryan, who provided the assist for the first goal, converted the penalty successfully, thus giving Giallorossi an unassailable lead at the end of the half-time.

Roma midfielder Lorenzo Pellegrini had his shot saved by Cordaz in the second half while Crotone also looked threatening for a moment when Lopez was taken out of the equation when he rushed up front to gather the ball; However, thanks to the crowded defence which denied Nwankwo’s chance.

The hosts were able to find a goal after Volemic scored a header from the corner kick but it wasn’t enough for them in the end.

Roma are now third in Serie A table after picking up three wins in a row while Crotone’s woes continued following their 6-2 defeat against Inter Milan.

Paul Fonseca’s men will next face Inter and a win could see them go level on points at the second place.
