Key Statistics

Fiorentina have failed to score in four league games this season. No other side in the league has failed to score on more occasions.

The hosts are unbeaten at home this season (W3, D3).

Only Sampdoria (5) and Cremonese (6) have scored fewer league goals than Fiorentina (7) this season.

They failed to score in both H2H meetings with Lazio last season (L2).

Lazio have the second-best defence in the league this season as they have conceded five league goals.

The visitors have kept three clean sheets in their last three games.

Lazio’s Sergej Milinković-Savić has contributed to eight league goals so far (G3, A5). Only Manchester City’s Kevin De Bruyne has more assists across Europe’s big five leagues (for midfielders).

Fiorentina

Fiorentina will look to get back to winning ways in the league when they host Lazio on Sunday.

The hosts were narrowly beaten 1-0 by Atalanta last weekend, taking their points tally for the season in the league to just nine points after their opening eight games (W2, D3, L3).

Such a record has them sitting outside of the top half and three points behind the top seven places. Amid mounting pressure on manager Vincenzo Italiano, the hosts will be desperate for better results to ensure that they play in Europe next season after they qualified for the Conference League last term.

Meanwhile, Fiorentina alleviated some of the pressure on their coach on Thursday night with an impressive 3-0 Europa Conference League victory away to Hearts, meaning Fiorentina have now won two of their last three competitive matches ‘to nil’.

They will now hope to build on that win as they fight to break into the top half of the table. But just two clean sheets in the league this season means that for them to achieve success, they will have to improve at the back or outscore their opponents.

Possible Fiorentina starting line-up

Pietro Terracciano; Lorenzo Venuti, Igor, Martinez Quarta, Cristiano Biraghi; Rolando Mandragora, Giacomo Bonaventura, Antonin Barak; Riccardo Saponara, Christian Kouame, Jonathan Ikone.

Injured: Riccardo Sottil

Doubtful: Gaetano Castrovilli

Suspended: None

Lazio

Lazio will look to make it four league wins in a row when they travel to Florence on Sunday.

The visitors have enjoyed a renaissance in the league recently, with impressive wins over Verona, Cremonese and Spezia. Their impressive run has been built on a sturdy defence that has conceded just five goals this season in the league.

Lazio scored ten goals in all three of those games while they also kept three clean sheets in each game. Another victory with an accompanying clean sheet here would mark the first time Lazio have won four straight league matches without conceding since March 2015.

However, a goalless draw away to Sturm Graz on Thursday night was perhaps the ideal preparation to secure that feat then from an attacking point of view. But having lost just one of their last five away games this season, the Biancocelesti will fancy their chances of recording a positive result in this game.

Possible Lazio starting line-up

Ivan Provedel; Manuel Lazzari, Patric, Alessio Romagnoli, Adam Marusic; Sergej Milinkovic-Savic, Danilo Cataldi, Luis Alberto; Felipe Anderson, Mattia Zaccagni, Ciro Immobile.

Injured: Nicolo Casale

Doubtful: None

Suspended: None
