The Rossoneri avoided a narrow defeat after Jens Petter Hauge scored a late equaliser.

AC Milan managed to pick up a 1-1 draw against Sampdoria as Quagliarella’s goal was cancelled out by a late equaliser Jens Petter Hauge.

Sampdoria looked more dangerous in the first half as they came close to finding the nets on a couple of occasions but star goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma made some stunning saves.

Milan were punished for the dreadful pass played from left-back Theo Hernandez inside their own defensive third and Sampdoria striker Fabio Quaglierella was quick to pounce on it, thus giving his side the breakthrough. However, they were presented with an obstacle minutes later when Adrien Silva was shown red.

Following that strike, Stefano Pioli’s men put more pressure on the visitors – who were a man down – in search of the equaliser and finally they got their reward in the 87th minute when substitute Jens Peter Hauge curled the ball into the nets.

Milan had a great chance to steal a late win but unfortunately, Franck Kessie’s strike hit the post in the dying minutes of the game.

Milan were able to salvage their lacklustre first-half display with an even better performance in the second period. Although they were looking for a win to keep up with Inter Milan in the title race, they would be happy nonetheless to secure a point.

The result leaves Rossoneri second in the table, five points off Inter but Atalanta are also marching upwards as they trail AC Milan by only two points at third in the Scudetto race.
