Italian international Giorgio Chiellini has signed a new two-year contract with Juventus.

The 36-year-old defender’s contract with the Italian giants expired earlier this summer, but he has now extended his contract until 2023.

The defender is set to begin his 17th season with Juventus, and the decision to renew his deal could prove to be a smart investment.

Despite his age, Chiellini remains an exceptional defender, and he showed his quality with Italy in the European Championships earlier this summer.

The experienced centre back produced a remarkable performance for his country at crucial stages of the tournament, and he helped Italy win the European Championships.

Chiellini and Bonucci have formed a world-class partnership at Juventus, and dominated in Serie A over the years. The two will be looking to continue serving the Turin giants in the upcoming season.

Apart from his quality as a defender, Chiellini is a leader, and his presence will be invaluable to the Juventus dressing room.

Furthermore, young defenders like Matthijs de Ligt and Merih Demiral could learn a lot from playing alongside a seasoned international like Chiellini.

Juventus failed to win the Italian league or challenge for the Champions League last season, and they will be desperate to bounce back strongly under their new manager Max Allegri.

It will be interesting to see if the likes of Chiellini can guide the Italian outfit to another Scudetto in the coming season.
