Inter Milan

Free-scoring Inter Milan will look to continue their rampant league form when they host Lazio on Sunday.

The hosts were flying high before heading into the winter break, winning seven league games in a row and not conceding in their last six.

Simone Inzaghi’s side have gone 26 consecutive home matches unbeaten, which is their second-best run at the San Siro since a run of 46 games without a loss between 2008 and 2010.

The 1-0 home win against Torino, last time out, extended their unbeaten run to 11 matches and maintained their one-point lead at the top of the table with a game in hand.

The defending champions have won 46 points so far this season, which is five points more than they did last season after 19 matches. This shows the remarkable improvement they have achieved under Inzaghi’s guidance.

They will be confident of continuing that impressive run in this game and so keep their place at the top of the table.

Possible Inter Milan starting line-ups

Samir Handanovic; Milan Skriniar, Stefan De Vrij, Alessandro Bastoni; Denzel Dumfries, Nicolo Barella, Marcelo Brozovic, Arturo Vidal, Ivan Perisic; Joaquin Correa, Lautauro Martinez.

Injured: Alex Cordaz, Martin Satriano

Doubtful: None

Lazio

Lazio will look to extend their three-game unbeaten run when they travel to Milan this Sunday.

The visitors drew 3-3 with Empoli in the last round, a game that saw the Serie B champions race into a 2-0 lead before even 10 minutes had been played. Such high scoring affairs have characterised this current Lazio’s games which is the first Lazio side since the 1960-61 season to have conceded as many as 37 goals after 20 games in a Serie A season.

Sarri’s side have conceded an average of 1.85 goals per game since the beginning of the season in the league. But over the last eight games, the average number of goals conceded per game is 2.25, which is 21.6% higher than their current season’s average.

Given that Inter Milan are free-scoring and dominant in attack, Lazio are in danger of conceding loads of goals unless they can keep their defence solid in this match.

However, Sarri has a good record against the hosts as he has won five in his last seven league matches against Inter. Also, Lazio are the only side to have beaten Inter this season and would be confident of securing a league double against their rivals.

Possible Lazio starting line-ups

Thomas Strakosha; Adam Marusic, Luiz Felipe, Stefan Radu, Elseid Hysaj; Sergej Milinkovic-Savic, Danilo Cataldi, Luis Alberto; Pedro, Ciro Immobile, Felipe Anderson.

Injured: Luka Romero
