Juventus

After watching his side get beaten once again by PSG in their final game in the Champions League, Massimiliano Allegri will now prepare his boys to get maximum points from this 206th league game against Inter Milan.

The Old Lady’s season has been anything but great, with the club dropping out of the Champions League in the group stages. Poor results has left them three points off the top four and ten points behind League leaders Napoli after 12 rounds of games, leading to increasing calls for the sacking of head coach Massimiliano Allegri.

However, the Italian coach has been given time by the board to sort out the mess the Italian giants find themselves in, and securing a win over Inter Milan will provide some succour to the hurting fans.

The loss to PSG added the finishing touches to the Old Lady’s exit from the Champions League, who now await the draw to determine who their opponents will be for the playoffs games to book a place in the Europa League knockout rounds.

Juventus secured their third straight win in the Italian Serie A last weekend when they beat Leece by a 0-1 scoreline. Youth player Nicolo Fagioli scored the only goal of the encounter when he bent a gorgeous effort into the top corner of the Leece goal with 17 minutes to spare.

Lecce nearly spoiled the occasion late on as Morten Hjulmand struck the post, but in the end, Juve would hold on for an ugly victory which, despite the poor showing, you’d have to admit they deserved.

With fourth-placed AS Roma playing fifth-placed Lazio, Juventus have the chance to cut the gap in the top four with a win. However, their task is not made any easier as they come up against an Inter Milan side they have failed to beat in their last four games, with the last three all ending in defeats.

Despite their loss to PSG in the Champions League, Juventus showed a much-improved performance than the one they produced in the first leg against the French outfit. Head coach Massimiliano Allegri will be keen to see his side put in yet another good performance when they take on Simone Inzaghi’s side at the Allianz Stadium.

Inter Milan

Inter Milan, on the other hand, ended their Champions League group stages games with a defeat to Group leaders Bayern Munich, as the German heavyweights scored two unanswered goals.

Goals from Jean-Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting and Benjamin Pavard secured all three points for the Bavarians against a much-rotated Inter side.

Yet, the scoreline did not reflect the true nature of the game, as Inter put in a fine performance against their much more impressive German opponents. But with a place in the knockout rounds already secured, Simone Inzaghi had little to worry about.

However, the Italian coach has a much bigger fish to fry in the Italian Serie A where his team sit one point outside the top four, and have lost considerable ground in the title race as they are eight points behind leaders Napoli.

The visitors secured a 3-0 win over Sampdoria in their last outing in the Italian Serie A, with goals from Stefan de Vrij, Nicolo Barella and Joaquin Correa handing the Nerazzurri an easy win.

The win was their fourth win on the bounce and so head coach Simone Inzaghi will be keen for his side to pick up their fifth straight win in the Italian topflight when they take on Juventus. With three straight wins in their last five encounters with the Old Lady, the Nerazzurri will greatly fancy their chances of getting all three points once more.

Possible Inter Milan starting line-up

Andre Onana; Milan Skriniar, Francesco Acerbi, Stefan de Vrij; Denzel Dumfries, Nicolo Barella, Hakan Calhanoglu, Henrikh Mkhitaryan, Federico Dimarco; Romelu Lukaku, Lautaro Martinez.
