Newly promoted Premier League side Fulham have completed the signing of the 27-year-old goalkeeper Alphonse Areola.
According to reports, the French goalkeeper has joined the London club on a loan deal with an option to buy.
Areola was not a key player for PSG, and the French outfit have decided to loan him out so that he can get regular first-team football.
It will be interesting to see how the 27-year-old performs in the Premier League.
According to reports, the player was offered to Arsenal as well, but the Gunners were not keen on signing him.
However, Fulham were believed to be desperate to sign the 27-year-old, and manager Scott Parker managed to convince Areola to move to Craven Cottage After ten days of phone conversations.
Fulham will be hoping to make their mark in the Premier League this year, and they need to strengthen their squad sufficiently before the window closes.
The last time Fulham were promoted to the Premier League they managed to spend a lot of money, but they were relegated immediately after.
The London club will be looking to avoid a repeat of that this time around.
Meanwhile, Areola will be desperate to prove himself in England as well. He will be hoping to establish himself as a regular starter for his national team, and this is a big opportunity for him to prove his worth.
It will be interesting to see if Fulham can improve their defence before the transfer window closes. The Londoners were vulnerable at the back in the championship last year, and they cannot afford to go into the new season with the same back four.
Speaking to the media about his transfer to Fulham, Areola said: “It is one city that we love with my wife and daughters – they speak better English than me having gone to a British school. We have family here so to enjoy football the good thing is to have a good atmosphere around us and be happy, be happy and give a good performance. Scott Parker called me, and I had a good feeling, we continued to speak for ten days or something like that, and I made my decision. He talked to me and said to me that he really wanted me. I felt great energy and good feeling, so for me, the most important thing is the relationship you have with the coach.”
