Juventus

After their midweek exertions in the Champions League, Juventus return to action in the league this weekend looking to record just their third win of the season.

The Old Lady succumbed to a 2-1 loss to PSG in midweek. After a quick-fire brace from Kylian Mbappe, substitute Weston McKennie pulled one back for the visitors who could not find an equaliser due to the heroics of Gianluigi Donnarumma in the PSG goal.

Meanwhile, the results in the domestic league has not been any better either with two wins and three draws, Massimiliano Allegri’s men currently sit in seventh place in the Serie A table.

They were held to a 1-1 draw in their last game against Fiorentina, their second draw in a row. After years of domestic dominance, the Old Lady were in a bit of a decline under the management of Maurizio Sarri and Andrea Pirlo but managed to finish in the top four, regardless. Max Allegri was brought back last year to stop the rot and the Italian tactician will be out to improve on their top four finish last season and challenge for the title.

The hosts secured home and away wins against Salernitana last season and extended their win to three in a row against the Salerno-based outfit, and come into this game confident of their chances of making it four wins in five against the visitors.

Possible Juventus starting line-up

Mattia Perin; Mattia De Sciglio, Danilo, Bremer, Alex Sandro; Weston McKennie, Manuel Locatelli, Leandro Paredes; Juan Cuadrado, Dusan Vlahovic, Filip Kostic.

Salernitana

Salernitana travel to the Allianz Stadion off the back of a 2-2 draw against Empoli last weekend.

Heading into week six of the Italian Serie A, Davide Nicola’s team have managed just one win, three draws and one loss, which leaves them in 10th position in the Serie A table.

The visitors avoided relegation last season by finishing with the lowest points tally in Serie A history with just 31 points, and the Italian coach will be keen not to have a repeat of such statistics this season.

Of the teams in the top ten, Salernitana have the joint second-best defensive record with just four goals conceded in their last five games. Head coach Davide Nicola will be counting on his boys once more to put in another defensive masterclass against the Old Lady and hope for better fortunes up front.

Possible Salernitana starting line-up

Luigi Sepe; Dylan Bronn, Federicoo Fazio, Norbert Mazzocchi; Antonio Candreva, Lassana Coulibaly, Giulio Maggiore, Tonny Vilhena, Pasquale Mazzocchi; Boulaye Dia, Federico Bonazzoli.
