Lazio

Lazio will look to continue their strong start to the 2022/23 Serie A season when they welcome the high-flying Udinese to Rome on Sunday.

The hosts come into this tie fresh from a disappointing result in Europe against Sturm Graz. Maurizio Sarri’s side played out a 2-2 draw with the Austrian side, with goals from Ciro Immobile and Pedro Ledesma on either side of a William Boving brace sealing the result.

The draw kept I Biancocelesti in contention to progress into the next round from Group F, with all four teams tied on five points.

Lazio will now look to continue their impressive start to the Serie A season when they take on high-flying Udinese. Maurizio Sarri’s side sit third in the Serie A with 20 points, three points shy of League leaders Napoli. The Italian tactician will be keen to see his side take their chance of cutting the gap between the League leaders to one point.

Lazio played out an entertaining 0-4 win over Fiorentina last week, with goals from Matias Vecino, Luis Alberto, Ciro Immobile and Mattia Zaccagni, securing all three points for I Biancocelesti.

With both teams flying high in the Serie A this season, there are no clear favourites for this encounter and Maurizio Sarri’s team must dig deep to secure another good result, despite their having gone on a four-game streak without defeat to Udinese in their last five games.

Possible Lazio starting line-up

Ivan Provedel; Manuel Lazzari, Alessio Romagnoli, Patric, Adam Marusic; Sergej Milinkovic-Savic, Matias Vecino, Luis Alberto; Felipe Anderson, Ciro Immobile, Mattia Zaccagni.

Udinese

Udinese came from behind to play out a 2-2 draw against Atalanta last weekend.

Gian Piero Gasperini’s side took the lead through Ademola Lookman and Luis Muriel on either side of the half.

I Bianconeri showed their mettle in the second half by clawing back from behind with goals from Gerard Deulofeu and Nehuen Perez, earning Andrea Sottil’s side a point.

The draw against Atalanta saw Udinese remain in the fourth position, level on points with their host after nine rounds of football.

Andrea Sottil will now take his team to Formello as they take on Maurizio Sarri’s side.

It is worthy of noting that the Italian coach has built an impressive unit this season who have been proving their title credentials with wins over Inter Milan, AS Roma and the draw against Atalanta last weekend.

With three points separating them from first place, Udinese are expected to give their all and pursue all three points to cut the gap on the top four and maintain their impressive start to the season.

Possible Udinese starting line-up

Marco Silvestri; Enzo Ebosse, Jaka Bijol, Nehuen Perez; Roberto Pereyra, Sandi Lovric, Walace, Jean-Victor Makengo, Destiny Udogie; Gerard Deulofeu, Beto.

Injured: Adam Masina

Doubtful: Leonardo Buta
