RB Leipzig picked up a narrow 1-0 win over Union Berlin in the Bundesliga earlier tonight.
Emil Forsberg scored the only goal of the game in the second half to secure all three points for Julian Nagelsmann’s side.
Leipzig are now up to second in the League table with 35 points and they are now just four points behind the Champions Bayern Munich.
It will be interesting to see if Leipzig can close the gap in the coming weeks and launch a proper title challenge this season.
Swedish international Emil Forsberg came on in the second half and broke the deadlock after an impressive one-two with Dani Olmo.
Goalkeeper Peter Gulacsi did exceedingly well to keep Union Berlin at bay and he produced a stunning save in stoppage time from Marius Buelter.
Meanwhile Union Berlin are now sixth in the table with 28 points and tonight’s defeat was their first in seven League games. They were in impressive form heading into the game and they could have easily snatched a point from this contest if not for Gulacsi’s inspired keeping.
They have a great chance of challenging for Champions League qualification and it will be interesting to see if Union Berlin can bounce back strongly in their next game.
The likes of Leverkusen and Dortmund might not be able to close the gap with Bayern after a poor first half of the season and Leipzig are the only side capable of pushing the defending champions this year.
