Napoli picked up a 2-0 win over Sassuolo in the Serie A last night.

The away side will be thoroughly disappointed with the result and they will feel unlucky to have lost the game.

Sassuolo had four goals disallowed for offside after the intervention of VAR.

The home side took the lead on the 8th minute when Elseid Hysaj scored with a low shot from the edge of the penalty area.

Filip Djuricic managed to score for Sassuolo in the 32nd minute but he was flagged offside. The Sassuolo ace scored for a second time a few minutes later but VAR disallowed it as well.

Francesco Caputo and Domenico Berardi had goals disallowed as offside later in the game as well.

Meanwhile, Napoli doubled their advantage through Allan, who smashed home the second from the edge of the area in stoppage time. The win takes Napoli up to 7th with 59 points. Sassuolo are now 8th on 48 points.

The home side have already qualified for the Europa League after their Coppa Italian win and they have very little to play for in the league apart from pride. It will be interesting to see if they can win their remaining games and finish the season on a high.

Sassuolo coach Roberto De Zerbi claimed that his side lacked conviction to win the game.

On the other hand, Gattuso said: “We created nine chances and we should have been two or three up by halftime, so I can’t be happy. Considering what we create, we score too little and concede too many.”
