Roma 2-0 Fiorentina: Roma claim 3-points as Spinazzola, Pedro score

Roma have comfortably defeated La Viola at Stadio Olimpico.

Roma have won their Serie A home fixture against Fiorentina with the scoreline 2-0.

Leonardo Spinazzola gave the hosts the lead in the 12th minute, as the long ball from goalkeeper Mirante fell into his moving feet before he found the nets past Dragowski.

Roma could have easily added a second or even two more goals if it was not for Fiorentina keeper Dragowski. The Polish shot-stopper made a series of saves in the first half to keep his side alive in the game.

However, Dragowski got beaten for the second time when Pedro doubled the lead in the 70th minute. Henrik Mkhitaryan squared a fantastic pass to the Spaniard, which the lacklustre defence of La Viola could do nothing about.

To add insult to the injuries, Lucas Martinez was also sent off in the final minutes of the regular time.

Roma have continued their good form in Serie A as they haven’t suffered a setback since the defeat to Verona in the opening game.

For La Viola, the defeat was their first after two impressive results in Serie A.

Paulo Fonseca, the Giallorossi manager, was in full praise of his side following the win.

“The whole team put in a good performance against a strong opponent. We were solid in defence today, doing well to break quickly on the counter. Lorenzo Pellegrini is a very intelligent player who can take on different roles, just as we can play with three at the back or four.”
