Tottenham picked up a 2-1 win over Brighton in the Premier League earlier today at Tottenham Stadium.

The home side took the lead on the 13th minute when Harry Kane won a controversial penalty. The England international converted from the spot but replays showed that he was the one who committed a foul on the Brighton midfielder Adam Lallana.

Brighton got back into the game in the second half when the highly talented right back Tariq Lamptey scored on the 56th minute.

Jose Mourinho decided to change things in his attack and the Portuguese manager brought on summer signing Gareth Bale on the 70th minute.

The on-loan Real Madrid winger scored the match-winning goal 3 minutes later when Sergio Reguilon’s cross found him unmarked in the box.

Mourinho will be pleased with the performance from his players and today’s win takes them up to 14 points, just two behind league leaders Liverpool.

Meanwhile Brighton remain without a win in five league games and they are 16th in the table with just five points.

Tottenham have shown that they have what it takes to grind out wins so far this season and it will be interesting to see if they can build on this and sustain a title challenge this year.

As for Brighton, they will have to improve in the upcoming weeks if they want to stay in the Premier League this year.
