Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Tanguy Ndombele has been linked with a move to Roma during the January transfer window as per Calciomercato.

The Frenchman was linked with a transfer away from the London club during the summer transfer window as well but he ended up staying after any potential move failed to materialise.

The 24-year-old midfielder has had a mixed time at the London club and a move away from Tottenham would not be a bad option for him.

Jose Mourinho has worked with the player during their time together at the Premier League club and he will know all about the Frenchman’s strengths and weaknesses.

The former Lyon midfielder struggled to make an impression on Mourinho when the Portuguese first joined Tottenham but their relationship evolved with time and he managed to impress Mourinho with his performances after that.

Initially, the former Tottenham manager was publicly critical of the Frenchman but he also admitted that Ndombele is a world-class talent.

The 24-year-old has fallen down the pecking order under Nuno Espirito Santo and he needs to leave Spurs in order to play regular first-team football.

Roma could definitely use a quality central midfielder like him and it will be interesting to see if they can agree on a deal with Tottenham when the transfer window reopens in January.

The Italian club tried to sign Arsenal midfielder Granit Xhaka during the summer transfer window but the move collapsed eventually. The Tottenham midfielder could be the ideal alternative and it remains to be seen how the situation unfolds over the next few months.

A reunion with Jose Mourinho at the Italian club could be tempting for the French midfielder given his current situation at the Premier League club and he’s unlikely to turn down the chance to move to Serie A.
