AC Milan maintained their perfect run in Serie A after a thrilling 2-1 win against Spezia.
The Rossoneri drew first blood after Daniel Maldini, son of club legend Paolo Maldini, found the nets inside three minutes in the second half.
However, it wasn’t plain sailing for Stefano Pioli‘s side as Spezia caused more problems.
The equaliser came at the 80th minute through Daniele Verde; however, Brahim Diaz snatched the winning goal for Milan as a substitute, thus killing the hopes of the home side.
Maldini makes a statement on his Serie A debut
Daniel Maldini was handed his first-ever start in Serie A and he couldn’t have asked for such a dream debut. The son of the legendary defender and the club’s sporting director Paolo Maldini, Daniel scored the opening goal for Milan and put on a good shift in the no.10 position. He must have been completely overwhelmed with his debut, and so was Paolo Maldini, who was spotted celebrating his son’s first goal for the club.
Diaz continues to shine for Milan
It wouldn’t be a stretch to say that Brahim Diaz has been the most impactful player for Milan this season. The Real Madrid loanee has added four goals and an assist in Serie A this season and also grabbed the spotlight for his goal against Liverpool in the Champions League. Today, the Spanish attacking midfielder showed his worth again by netting the winning goal as soon he was introduced into the game as a substitute.
Stefano Pioli is building a winning side
Stefano Pioli rotated the squad for today’s game and yet he managed to see out an impressive Spezia team. The victory has also put Milan on the top of the table and they have managed to collect 16 points after 6 games. Pioli has been advocating an attacking brand of football, which is proving too good for the fellow clubs in Italy. Having returned to the Champions League set-up after a long time, Milan can now push for the Scudetto.
