Australian manager Ange Postecoglou has been linked with a move to Celtic this summer.

The Scottish giants sacked Neil Lennon after a series of poor results midway through the season, and John Kennedy was appointed as the interim boss.

However, Celtic need to bring in a long term replacement for Lennon and Postecoglou has been identified as a target. Previously, Mourinho was linked with the job as well.

The Australian is currently managing Yokohama F. Marinos in J1 League, but he has all the potential to succeed in European football. Postecoglou’s side are currently at the third spot in the J1 League table.

Postecoglou has been likened to top-class managers like Pep Guardiola, and he’s rated quite highly.

There is no reason why he cannot make a big contribution to Celtic’s rebuild next season. Celtic were beaten to the title by Rangers this past season, and the fans will demand a strong reaction from the side next year.

Bitter rivals Rangers finished the season unbeaten, and they humiliated Celtic in the derby games as well.

The Hoops are in need of a major transformation, and they must look to bring in a manager who can develop young talents and add a distinct style of play to the side. Postecoglou’s teams have been compared to Barcelona because of their attacking style of football, and the Celtic fans would certainly welcome a similar brand of football at Parkhead.

Lennon was heavily criticized for his passive approach last season, and the Celtic fans will be hoping for free-flowing attacking football next year.

The 55-year-old manager is widely regarded as the best Australian coach of all time, and he has a proven track record in youth development. He has worked with eminent clubs in analytics and scouting, and therefore he could be the ideal man to nurture the young talents at Celtic.

The Hoops could lose quite a few key players this summer, and Postecoglou will have a massive challenge ahead of him.

It will be interesting to see if he can replace the likes of Odsonne Edouard and Kristoffer Ajer should they decide to move on. Furthermore, club captain Scott Brown has called time on his Celtic career as well, and they will have to replace his quality and leadership.
