Barcelona handed Ansu Fati injury boost

Ansu Fati of Barcelona

Barcelona have been handed a major injury boost with teenage star Ansu Fati set to return to action after 10 months on the sidelines with a serious knee injury.

The 18-year-old is regarded as one of the finest prospects to have come out of the La Masia Academy and he exploded into the first team scene before his injury problems.

The forward has already scored 13 goals in 41 first-team appearances for the Spanish giants and he is the youngest scorer in the last 80 years of Barcelona’s history and the Spanish national team.

Fati returned to pre-season training earlier this summer and Mirror are reporting that the player has now managed to build up an optimum level of match fitness and he could return to action this weekend.

Barcelona have had a mediocre start to the season and the return of the youngster will certainly help them improve in the final third.

A club of their stature should be challenging for the league title every season but Barcelona are currently 8th in the league table.

Fati has been handed Lionel Messi’s number 10 shirt this season and it will be interesting to see if the young forward can live up to the expectations.

There is no doubt that he is a prodigious talent who has the potential to develop into a world-class player but being labelled as the successor of the Argentine international could put undue pressure on him.

Meanwhile, the youngster is out of contract next summer and he has been linked with a move away from Barcelona.

It remains to be seen whether the Spanish giants can agree on a new deal with the player and his agent Jorge Mendes.
