Thiago Silva agrees to sign two-year Chelsea deal

The Brazilian defender is closing on a move to Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea are on the verge of signing Thiago Silva as he reportedly agrees a transfer move to Stamford Bridge.

According to reports, the Brazilian free agent has agreed a two-year deal to join Chelsea.

The 35-year-old played his last match for PSG in the Champions League finals where the French Champions League lost against Bayern Munich.

It has been previously reported that Serie A outfit Fiorentina were the potential suitors for Silva, only to be denied by him following the UCL final defeat.

AC Milan had also looked interested in reuniting with the Brazilian centre-back before the outbreak of COVID.

Silva has become one of the influential leaders in PSG history, leading them to an overwhelming domestic dominance over the course. The former Rossoneri star was also part of the Brazil team that won the Copa America last year.

Chelsea are looking relentless with their transfer strategies as they remain the favourites to sign Kai Havertz, Ben Chilwell and now Silva. The Blues have already added the likes of Timo Werner and Hakim Ziyech to what looks like a strong squad.

Silva’s arrival as a free transfer would benefit Frank Lampard in many ways. The Brazilian’s leadership skills, ball-playing qualities and the sound defensive attributes would stabilize Chelsea’s weak defence.

Lampard’s first season as the manager at Stamford was often scrutinized for the leaky defence.

The Blues have been linked with an array of centre-backs including the likes of Pau Torres, Jose Gimenez.
