Paris Saint Germain were held to a 1-1 draw against Club Brugge in the Champions League last night and the dull result has seen a lot of criticism directed towards manager Mauricio Pochettino.
The Argentine failed to win the league with Paris Saint Germain last year and his critics are now questioning his ability to get the best out of Lionel Messi, Neymar and Kylian Mbappe.
The French outfit have put together the most exciting attacking trio in world football but they struggled to perform at a high level in the Champions League last night.
The three players played just 19 passes amongst themselves and it is evident that there is a distinct lack of chemistry in PSG’s attacking unit.
Former Inter Milan manager Antonio Conte has now hit out at Pochettino’s critics and explained that it is not easy to find the balance in a star-studded side and the job would be difficult for any manager in world football.
Conte said: “To find the balance at PSG is not simple, but not only for Pochettino, it would be difficult for anyone.”
After the kind of transfer window PSG had earlier on in the summer, they will be expected to win the league title and the Champions League title this season.
PSG have been outstanding in the league so far and they have managed to pick up five wins out of five matches.
It will be interesting to see if they can improve in the European competitions and perform at a level befitting of their squad.
