Paris Saint-Germain superstar Kylian Mbappe signed a new contract with the French club recently but he was heavily linked with a move to Real Madrid prior to that.

The 22-year-old World Cup winner was a priority target for the Spanish giants this summer and club president Florentino Perez did everything in his power to bring him to Santiago Bernabeu.

Apparently, Mbappe had a transfer agreed with Real Madrid but he backed out at the last minute. The World Cup winning striker later signed a contract extension with the French club.

According to the latest reports, the Frenchman’s decision has disappointed Real Madrid including the players and the club president.

The Spanish media have had a strong negative reaction to the player’s decision as well.

Real Madrid are set to take on Liverpool in the Champions League final on Saturday night but most of the Spanish media’s coverage in recent days has been about Mbappe and his decision to snub Real Madrid.

It is believed that some of the players are unhappy with the situation as well and they were looking forward to playing with the French international next season.

It is evident that Real Madrid’s preparations for the Champions League final has been hampered by the Mbappe news and it will be interesting to see whether the players can get their act together and deliver a match-winning performance in the finals in Paris.

Real Madrid had probably planned a special week where they would win the Champions League and then announce the transfer of Kylian Mbappe.

However, that is not going to be the case anymore but Carlo Ancelotti’s side could still end the season on a massive high by winning the Champions League title tomorrow.

It remains to be seen whether Los Blancos can defeat Jurgen Klopp’s side in the final despite their apparent distractions.
