UEFA are set to decide the fate of this year’s Champions League soon.
As per reports, there will be a meeting on the 17th of the June regarding this year’s tournament and how it will be completed.
Apparently, Germany and Portugal are contenders to host this year’s final. The showpiece event will be moved from Istanbul.
The current health crisis has shook the footballing world and the leagues are only just starting to resume now. It will be interesting to see what happens to Europe’s premier club competition.
The Champions League was suspended back in March because of the Coronavirus pandemic.
The priority now is to resume the competition but in locations that are easily accessible to the players and the officials.
Initially, the final was set to be played out in the Ataturk Olympic Stadium in Istanbul.
Currently, Frankfurt is being considered as a potential location in Germany. Meanwhile, two stadiums in Lisbon could be used from Portugal.
It will be interesting to see what the governing bodies decide in the meeting later this month.
The likes of Atletico Madrid, RB Leipzing, PSG and Atalanta are already in the Quarter finals of the competition and there are a few games left to decide the other four teams.
Juventus, Bayern, Chelsea, Barcelona, Man City and Real Madrid are among the teams still waiting to qualify for the next round.
It will be interesting to see how the tournament progresses in the next few months.
