Liverpool secure 2-0 win over Midtjylland despite another injury blow

Mohamed Salah-Shaqiri-Liverpool

Liverpool picked up a 2-0 win over Midtjylland in the Champions League earlier today.

Diogo Jota scored the opening goal of the game for the Reds on the 55th minute and Mohamed Salah wrapped up the scoring deep into injury time.

Despite the win, Jurgen Klopp will be thoroughly disappointed with the performance of his players.

The Reds were far from convincing and they could have easily dropped points on another day.

Liverpool struggled to create too many chances and they looked vulnerable at the back.

However the main cause for concern will be the injury to star player Fabinho.

The Brazilian has been Liverpool’s best defender since the injury to Virgil van Dijk and it seems that he has damaged his hamstring.

Fabinho is expected to miss the next few weeks and it will be interesting to see how Liverpool cope with just one fit centre back at their disposal.

Joel Matip, Virgil van Dijk and Fabinho are all injured and it remains to be seen who partners Joe Gomez at the back against West Ham United at the weekend.

On paper, Liverpool has made an impressive start to their Champions League campaign with two wins out of two but they need to improve performance-wise if they want to top their group.

The Reds will take on Atalanta in their next game and the Italian outfit could cause serious problems for them.
