Neymar face suspension fears for swapping shirts ahead of UCL final

PSG 2-0 Dortmund Neymar put PSG in quarters, mock Haaland celebration

PSG forward is once again surrounded with a controversy for swapping his shirt against Leipzig in the semi-finals.

PSG ace Neymar might miss the final of the UEFA Champions League for swapping shirts in the Leipzig clash.

The 28-year-old was found swapping shirts with Leipzig defender Marcel Halstenberg after the final whistle. PSG emerged victorious against Julian Naglesmann’s side and have booked their place in the finals for the first time in their history.

However, there are fears regarding the suspension of the Brazilian forward for breaching the protocol. UEFA had deemed the act – swapping shirts – inadvisable because of the prevailing Coronavirus.

Since the return of football, UEFA has imposed a new set of rules to ensure both Europa League and Champions League to be played safely. The health and safety measures have also increased across Europe’s top five leagues to regulate the spread of CoronaVirus.

The act of swapping shirts -generally a tradition in football – is said to be against the ethics in the current circumstances.

However, it remains to be seen whether UEFA would take action against Neymar and prevent him from playing in the finals.

The former Barcelona star has been highly influential for Les Parisiens in the Champions League season and would be a big loss if he couldn’t play in the finals. Neymar provided two assists in both the quarter-finals and sem-finals.

Thomas Tuchel’s men will face the winners of the Bayern Munich and Lyon fixture.
