Zlatan Ibrahimovic ruled out of the Liverpool clash due to Achilles injury

AC Milan 2 - 0 Bologna Zlatan Ibrahimovic dazzles with a double

The Swedish star hasn’t made it to Milan’s squad list for the Champions League clash against Liverpool.

AC Milan star Zlatan Ibrahimovic will miss the Champions League clash against Liverpool due to a problem in Achilles Tendon.

Rossoneri are set to play the Reds in the Group B encounter of UEFA Champions League on Tuesday but will be without the services of Ibrahimovic.

The Swedish superstar suffered a little pain during the weekend La Liga game against Lazio and manager Stefano Pioli has decided not to take any risks by including him in the squad for the Champions League.

Pioli said: “He[Zlatan] ended Milan-Lazio with tendon inflammation, today he tried to train but will not be risked.”

It will be a huge blow for Milan who are making a comeback into the UCL after seven years.

Zlatan featured for Milan for the first time this season when he came in as a substitute against Lazio in the weekend. He made an immediate impact by scoring a goal.

However, Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp feels that Milan are a quality side even without the 39-year-old.

Klopp said: “Zlatan, what a player! What a player! I think I saw a few injuries when he got injured a few months ago. I’m not sure if he had the surgery, but I saw a video of him on the spinning bike, fighting back, saying ‘lions don’t rest for long’ or whatever.

“And he is always right! He came on now in the last game after a long time and scored immediately. He’s the man for exceptional moments in games.

“If he’s not playing then probably Olivier Giroud plays or [Ante] Rebic is playing. All slightly different profiles but all good.”

The Merseyside outfit will be coming on the back of an impressive win against Leeds United – their third victory in the Premier League this season.

Elsewhere, Milan are off to a blistering start to the new season, winning all of their 3 games in Serie A so far.
