Cristiano Ronaldo made a dream start to his second spell at Manchester United with a brace against Newcastle United yesterday.

The 36-year-old scored twice in either half against the Magpies to announce his arrival emphatically.

The Portuguese international was heavily linked with a move away from Juventus at the start of the summer and Manchester City were tipped as a potential destination.

However Manchester United ended up striking a deal with the Italian giants to bring the player back to Old Trafford and there were murmurs that Juventus would benefit from his departure.

Former Juventus players like Alessandro del Piero criticised the Portuguese international for his decision to leave the Allianz Arena for Manchester United and the Juventus fans also responded with social media claims that the player held the team back.

There was a belief that the Italian club would improve as a unit without Ronaldo as CR7 moved to Premier League.

Instead, Juventus crashed to a 2-1 defeat against Napoli on Saturday and Cristiano Ronaldo showed exactly why he is considered as one of the best players of his generation with an outstanding performance for his new club.

Several Manchester United fans have now taken to social media to explain that it was indeed Juventus that was holding Ronaldo back and their decision to celebrate his departure has ended up costing them.
