Roma 5-0 CFR Cluj: Mayoral scores double as Roma cruise to thumping win

Mayoral-Mkhitaryan-Roma

Borja Mayoral scored his first for Roma in the 5-0 routing of CFR Cluj.

Roma have eased past CFR Cluj with an emphatic 5-0 on matchday 3 of Europa League at Stadio Olimpico.

Henrikh Mkhitaryan opened the scoring for Roma in the opening minute of the game, heading the ball to the nets after an impressive cross from Leanardo Spinazzola.

Paul Lopez was called into action at the other end when Cluj’s Hoban forced him into a save. The visitors wouldn’t have foreseen that it will be the only last time they were going to test the Spaniard keeper.

The Spaniard scored his first goal for the Giallorossi to make it 3-0 up for the hosts before the first time.

After a brief spell of inactivity, Roma scored their fourth goal in the 84th minute, which also marked Mayoral’s second of the night.

Pedro wrapped up the game with a brilliant strike after an assist from Tomasso Milanese, who had a dream debut to remember.

It turned out as a comprehensive win for Paulo Fonseca’s side, with players like Mayoral and Milanese chipping in with impressive displays.

The win also marked Roma’s second in Europa League this season, having previously produced a come-back win against Young Boys and drawn against CSKA Sofia.

Roma’s form in Serie A also remains intact as they have won 3 out of their last four games this season. They will next face Genoa this weekend.
