Denmark will play their second group game of the European Championship this Thursday when they take on Belgium in Copenhagen.

Stadium: Parken Stadium (Copenhagen)

Key Statistics

Denmark suffered their first defeat in six games when they lost to Finland in their opening game. They kept eight clean sheets from their last 12 games and won nine times in that period.

Belgium extended their unbeaten run to ten games with their win against Russia. The Red Devils have averaged 2.70 goals per match across their last ten fixtures (W8, D2). Romelu Lukaku has now scored 22 international goals in 19 matches since the 2018 World Cup.

Belgium have won previous two encounters against Denmark in UEFA Nations League during later half of 2020 (4-2 and 2-0) and have not lost last three matches (2 Wins, 1 Draw)

Belgium: WDWDWW (Goals for 17, Goals against 3)

Denmark

After a distressing opening game that saw Denmark lose to Finland after losing star player Christian Eriksen after he suffered a cardiac arrest, the home team will look to get their European Championship campaign back on track when they play group favourites Belgium.

The home team were unfortunate to lose their opening game but can now put the events of Saturday behind them by putting up a solid performance.

Despite an inferior head-to-head record with Belgium in recent times, the Danes still possess the ability to hurt any team.

They will know that a loss here ends their Euro campaign and so will be looking to avoid an embarrassing exit by picking up their first points of the tournament here.

They have the firepower and quality to do so as they tasted defeats two times in their last 12 games.

Possible line-ups

Apart from Eriksen, who collapsed after a cardiac arrest against Finland, Denmark have every player available.

Kasper Schmeichel, Daniel Wass, Simon Kjaer, Andreas Christensen, Joakim Maehle, Mathias Jensen, Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, Thomas Delaney, Yussuf Poulsen, Jonas Wind, Martin Braithwaite.

Belgium

Belgium stormed to a 3-0 in their opening game to send a message to the rest of Europe about their ambitions this summer.

The Red Devils, who rank one in FIFA ranking, are one of the serious contenders and look capable of beating any team.

Their opening day victory means that they have now won four of their last five games at the European Championships, which is as many victories as they attained across their first 13 games in the competition.

Their goal now is to secure qualification to the next round, and they can do so if they win against Denmark.

Possible line-ups

Roberto Martinez’s side are facing an injury crisis at the moment, with Leicester City full-back Timothy Castagne now out of the tournament after sustaining a nasty fracture in the face in their game against Russia.

Kevin De Bruyne, Axel Witsel, and Benfica centre-back Jan Vertonghen are also doubts for this match.

Thibaut Courtois, Toby Alderweireld, Dedryck Boyata, Jason Denayer, Thomas Meunier, Leander Dendoncker, Youri Tielemans, Thorgan Hazard, Dries Mertens, Romelu Lukaku., Eden Hazard
