Italy defeated England through penalties to lift the Euro 2020 title at Wembley. Here we take a look at the award winners of the tournament.

Star of the final – Leonardo Bonucci

Bonucci put on a stunning display in the finals against the Three Lions, scoring the equaliser for Italy in the 67th minute to cancel out Luke Shaw’s early goal. Teaming up with long-time defensive partner Chiellini, Bonucci was also solid in the defence.

Golden Boot – Cristiano Ronaldo

Cristiano Ronaldo bagged the Golden Boot after ending up as the tournament’s top scorer award. The Portuguese striker scored 5 goals in the group stage before getting eliminated in the round of 16 against Belgium. Although Czech striker Patrik Schick was tied with 5 goals, Ronaldo grabbed the award for achieving it in fewer games than Schick.

Young Player of the tournament – Pedri

Pedri has been bestowed with the best young player award following an impressive European Championship. The 18-year-old Barcelona wonderkid exceeded his expectations in his first major tournament with the national team, becoming an indisputable starter for Luis Enrique. Enrique also had high praise for the Barcelona midfielder, stating that legendary Iniesta wasn’t at this level at his age.

Player of the tournament – Gianluigi Donnarumma

Italian goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma has won the player of the tournament award, and he rightfully deserves so for his contribution to the team. In the finals against England, Donnarumma denied three penalties in the shootout, which inspired Azzurri to the title – a similar heroic performance against Spain in the semi-finals. The soon-to-become PSG keeper secured three clean sheets and conceded only four goals.
