Liverpool contract rebel Georginio Wijnaldum has held positive talks with Bundesliga Champions Bayern Munich before a possible transfer in the summer.

The midfielder will be out of contract in Liverpool next month and is reportedly keen on switching to Bayern Munich on a free transfer.

According to a German football site, Sport1, the Netherlands midfielder has made contact with the Bundesliga side and is ready to switch to Germany.

Earlier, Humphry Nijman, Wijnaldum’s representative, openly confirmed that the 30-year-old would exit Anfield when his five-year deal at the club expires. He also hinted that a switch to Bayern would be of interest.

Speaking to Meine Bayern-Woche in the Sport1 podcast, Nijman said;

‘Wijnaldum is a free transfer, and it keeps all options open.’

‘FC Bayern is a great club. If you are interested in them, please do not hesitate to talk to us.’

Wijnaldum has been a mainstay for Jurgen Klopp’s side this season and has made a total of 50 appearances this season. He also captains the side in the absence of Van Dijk and Jordan Henderson.

The Dutchman was signed from Newcastle in 2016 and has gone on to make over 220 appearances for the Reds and scoring crucial goals.
