Spanish international Sergio Busquets has tested positive for Coronavirus on Sunday morning, and the entire squad has now been placed into self-isolation.

The Spanish squad will be forced to pull out of the warm-up game against Lithuania on Tuesday night, and it will be interesting to see if Sergio Busquets can return in time for Spain’s opening game against Sweden on the 14th of June.

According to reports, every other member of Spain’s 24-month squad tested negative, but the international side are currently following all the Coronavirus protocols in accordance with UEFA and Spanish health ministry guidelines.

As far as training is concerned, normal sessions have been replaced with individual sessions, and Busquets has been removed from the Spanish national team’s headquarters in a medicalised transport.

Spain were held to a goalless draw against Portugal in a high profile friendly earlier this month, and it will be interesting to see how they perform in the European Championships this summer.

There is no doubt that Luis Enrique has quite a few talented options at his disposal, but Spain have not been at their best for years now.

Busquets could prove to be a key player for them this summer, and Luis Enrique will be hoping that the experienced Barcelona midfielder can return to action quickly.

If the Spanish side can sort out their attacking problems, they could prove to be a force to be reckoned with this summer. Enrique has an impressive defence and midfield at his disposal.
