Diego Simeone couldn’t stop himself from applauding Lionel Messi’s brilliant goal which secured Barcelona three points, against Atletico Madrid in Wanda Metropolitano Stadium this weekend.
The match was appeared to end in a 0-0 draw on Sunday evening but Messi’s late strike at 85th minute of the match rescued three points for Barca.
They did everything to close the path for Messi for entire match till that point. But on that occasion, Simeone’s men failed to intervene when the magician was on his way, with a liitle help from Luis Suarez.
For Atletico Madrid players, it was all dejected looks that they were wearing. But the reaction from their coach was sublime. Subsequent television footage shows the Atletico Madrid boss applauding Barcelona’s talisman from the sidelines after the goal was scored. Though it started with a little dejection, but he had a quick realisation…
‘With a great goal like that, all you can do is applaud,’ Simeone said after the match. ‘The move, when the counter-attack started, had the smell of great danger. He scored a golazo.’
