Ramos, Fati notch up records as Spain beat Ukraine in UEFA Nations League

The Spaniards defeated Ukraine 4-0

Spain produced an emphatic win against Ukraine in the matchday 2 of the UEFA Nations League.

Sergio Ramos scored the opener off the bat after the teenager Ansu Fati won a penalty. The Real Madrid defender went onto find his second in around the half-hour mark, thereby breaking the record for the most goals scored by a defender.

Ramos surpassed Daniel Passarella’s record of 22 goals at the international stage as the Spanish skipper had found his 23rd goal.

It was a night of records for La Roja as Fati became their youngest ever goalscorer in history.

The exciting Barcelona talent was handed his first full start last night and it turned out to be a memorable outing for the teenager.

Fati, who produced an excellent display, scored his first goal in a fantastic fashion, giving tough times for the Ukrainian defence.

The 17-year-old emerged as a breakout star in an otherwise lacklustre Barca squad last season. Luis Enrique, La Roja’s manager, has heaped praises on Fati, stating that the La Masia youngster has to be protected in every way.

Ferran Torres scored the winning goal in the second half, which marked his first with the national team. The newcomer of Manchester City has followed up with an impressive debut against Germany.

Spain have also put an end to Ukraine’s winning streak at the international level with the 4-0 win.
