Argentina Cancelled Last Friendly against Israel before World Cup

Argentina have finally cancelled their last friendly before World Cup against Israel (FIFA Ranking 98) that had been scheduled for June 9, Saturday, Argentina football officials and players said.

The controversial friendly was called off due to security concerns of players and their families amid wave of pretests, as reported. Argentina striker Higuain confirmed reports the game had been cancelled following political pressure

The match was originally scheduled to be played in Haifa, moved to Teddy Kollek Stadium, Jerusalem, irking Palestinians further. Palestinian Football Federation joined the protest against Argentina playing at Jerusalem.

Argentina face Iceland on June 16 in their first group match.
