Management professor hails Jurgen Klopp’s man-management skills

Jurgen Klopp-Liverpool

Management professor Ralf Lanwehr has revealed why Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp should be a role model for all managers and why the German has been so successful.

According to Lanwehr, the German has immense charisma and he leads from the heart. His ability to connect with his players makes him unique.

The professor claims that the Liverpool manager makes his players enjoy their work and therefore they tend to perform better as a unit.

“Jürgen Klopp combines many qualities of a good manager. He is insanely charismatic, but doesn’t take himself too seriously, puts his players in the foreground and makes them better as a result,” says Ralf Lanwehr.

His former players, Neven Subotic and Oliver Kirch recently explained how Klopp appreciated them as a person and a player. The German manager is approachable and he has a lot of empathy which helps him form genuine bonds with his players and fans.

Furthermore his tendency to choose clubs that come from a working-class culture like Dortmund and Liverpool helps him connect to the masses passionately.

The Liverpool manager is excellent at handling people and his man-management skills are top-notch. Klopp is adored at his former clubs Dortmund and Mainz and his connection with the players and fans at Liverpool is no different.

“Klopp leads with heart, hand, and brain,” Lanwehr says.

“There’s always an ideological component to it, too. Klopp picks clubs that suit him, i.e. clubs from working-class cities like Dortmund or Liverpool. In his motivational speeches to the team, he likes to spur the players on with messages like ‘We’ll show the fine gentlemen from Munich’.”

Klopp helped deliver Liverpool’s sixth Champions League title in 2019 and their first Premier League title in 30 years last year.
