Al-Ahly edged out Al-Duhail in the second round of FIFA Club world cup.

Egyptian Champions Al Ahly have edged out Al Duhail in a narrow 1-0 win, with El Shahat’s strike proving decisive.

The visitors had their breakthrough at the half-hour mark when El-Shahat scored a goal from outside the box, leaving no chance for goalkeeper Salah Zakaria.

The 29-year-old sported a Ronaldo-esque celebration after the goal.

Not long after, Walter Bwalya, who set up the first goal for El-Shahat, thought he had doubled the lead for Al-Ahly after beating past Zakaria, but the strike was soon overturned by VAR due to offside.

Al-Duhail put on some valiant efforts in the second half but shot-stopper Mohamed El-Shanawy made sure the scoreline remain intact with a couple of decent saves.

The win takes the Egyptian club through to the semi-finals of the FIFA Club World Cup and their opponents will be none other than treble winners Bayern Munich.

Al-Ahly manager Pitso Mosimane, who was happy with the result, offered his thoughts on his side facing Bayern in the semi-finals. The African manager stated that his men have nothing to lose against the Bavarians while adding the contest would be an entertaining one.

El-Shahat, who scored the winning goal, also looks excited about the semi-finals, where he would go face to face with his favourite player Thomas Muller.

On the other hand, Bayern would look to add another feather in their cap – FIFA Club World Cup – and it would be a sextuple if they were able to win the title.
