Bayern Munich are all set to take on African champions Al-Ahly or Qatari champions Al-Duhail in the semi-finals of the Club World Cup next month.

The German champions won the Champions League last season and they will be hoping to win the prestigious Club World Cup as well.

The draw was conducted at the FIFA headquarters in Zurich earlier today.

The competition was initially scheduled for December last year but it has been delayed because of the Coronavirus pandemic. Furthermore, the competition had to be postponed because Copa Libertadores is yet to be completed.

Bayern Munich had a memorable season last year and they managed to win the  Bundesliga, the German Cup, Champions League, UEFA Super Cup and the German Super Cup.

They will be hoping to add to that tally by winning the Club World Cup now.

The German side are undoubtedly the best team left in the competition and they will be firm favourites to lift the trophy.

The semi-final will be played on the 8th of February at the Ahmad bin Ali stadium which will also host the World Cup in 2022.

It will be interesting to see if the German side takes on Al Ahly which is Africa’s most successful club having been the continental champions nine times.

Meanwhile, Al Duhail are currently the reigning champions of the host nation.

The German outfit have been relatively inconsistent domestically so far and they cannot afford to undermine their opponents next month.

Bayern will have to be at their best to book their place in the finals of the competition and go all the way.
