Perth Glory
After enduring one of their worst seasons in recent history, Perth Glory will look to end the season on a winning note when they play Melbourne City on Wednesday night.
The hosts have taken just 15 points from 25 games so far this season and were confirmed Wooden Spoon winners two matchdays ago following losses to Western United (6-0) and Adelaide United (2-0).
But they come into this tie on the back of a 1-1 draw with Western Sydney Wanderers and will look to get their first league win since February when they play this game.
But with 16 losses from 25 games (W3, D6) and 43 goals conceded, it doesn’t look like they have much of a chance at winning this game against their more fancied opponents.
Possible Perth Glory starting line-up
Cameron Cook; Jack Clisby, Darryl Lachman, Jonathan Aspropotamitis, Antonee Burke-Gilroy; Osama Malik, Brandon O’Neill, Callum Timmins; Ciaran Bramwell, Bruno Fornaroli, Adrian Sardinero
Injured: Luke Bodnar, Kosuke Ota, Andy Keogh, Daniel Sturridge
Doubtful: None
Suspended: None
Melbourne City
After their exertions in the AFC Champions League game, Melbourne City will turn their attention to their A-League title quest this Wednesday as they face the bottom-of-the-table Perth Glory.
Despite beating United City 3-0 in the sixth round of the AFC Champions League, the visitors could not qualify for the next round, thanks to a second-place finish in the group.
But in the league, they come into this round of games sitting in first place despite losing their last game (3-0 loss to Melbourne Victory), one point ahead of second-placed Melbourne Victory who have played a game more, and two ahead of Western United in third.
And so, their chance of winning the Premiers Plate is in their hands. All they have to do now is win this game and draw the last and they will be Premiers Plate winners.
Given what is at stake, they will come into this tie desperate to get the win that will give them an advantage as they seek to win just their second Premiers Plate.
Possible Melbourne City starting line-up
Tom Glover; Carl Jenkinson, Jordon Hall, Nuno Reis, Scott Jamieson; Connor Metcalfe, Taras Gomulka, Raphael Borges Rodrigues, Stefan Colakovski; Marco Tilo, Tsubasa Endoh.
