Goa 2-2 Bengaluru: Angulo inspires Goa to a thrilling second-half comeback

Sunil Chhetri-Bengaluru FC

FC Goa were held to a 2-2 draw against Bengaluru FC in the Indian Super League earlier today.

Cleiton Silva scored a goal on his debut in the 27th minute to put Bengaluru in the lead and Goa fought back in the second half despite being 2-0 down up until the 57th minute.

Bengaluru doubled their advantage through Juanan early on in the second half but Juan Ferrando’s side showed tremendous spirit to grind out a draw.

Debutant Igor Angulo scored twice in three minutes to secure a point for  Goa.

Bengaluru were outstanding in the first half but the Gaurs managed to get their rhythm going in the second half and they did well to come back into the game after the hour mark. Ferrando will be pleased with his team’s determination and performance today.

A draw was probably the fair result in the end but Goa certainly had the quality to pick up a home win here and they will have to improve in the coming weeks if they want to do well in the Indian Super League this season.

The home side had the chance to win the game but Sunil Chhetri missed a kick from close range after Cleiton Silva set him up with a beautiful backheel.

Both teams will be determined to get back to winning ways in their next game and it will be interesting to see if the players can step up and deliver.
