Tammy Abraham continues to shine despite being written off in the summer

Former Arsenal star Ian Wright claims that Tammy Abraham has now made his mark in the Chelsea team and it is impossible to ignore his development.

The Blues spent a lot of money on Kai Havertz, Hakim Ziyech and Timo Werner in the summer but Abraham has still managed to keep his place in the starting lineup with quality performances week in week out.

It will be interesting to see how Frank Lampard deals with the dilemma the young striker has handed him now.

Olivier Giroud has already fallen down the pecking order because of Werner and Abraham. It seems that the young Chelsea striker is slowly establishing himself as the regular #9 for the Blues.

Initially, it seemed like Tammy Abraham would lose his starting berth when Chelsea decided to splurge on the likes of Timo Werner but he has done well to force his way into Frank Lampard’s plans and his growth has been outstanding over the last few months.

“Some of the movement I saw against Sheffield United wasn’t as great as it was today, as his movement today was fantastic,” Wright said on BBC’s Match of the Day.

“Then obviously at the end, the way he took his goal. What I like about Tammy is the way that he gets on the shoulder, he gets in front of them.

“He needs to attack the back and hit the front. They do make the chances and he just needs to take them.”
