Borussia Dortmund agree deal to sign Niklas Sule

Bayern Munich crash out of DFB Pokal

German international defender Niklas Sule was heavily linked with a move to the Premier League over the last few months but the defender has now chosen to sign for Borussia Dortmund once his contract expires with Bayern Munich.

The 26-year-old will be a free agent at the end of this season and he has decided to remain in the Bundesliga with Dortmund.

The deal has been officially confirmed by the German club and the 26-year-old should prove to be a quality long term acquisition.

According to the Mirror, Chelsea were long term admirers of the German defender and Thomas Tuchel was looking to bring him in at the end of this season.

It appears that Dortmund have managed to convince the player to snub a move to the Premier League and stay in Germany instead.

Sule is likely to get regular game time with Dortmund and it will be interesting to see if he can fulfil his world-class potential with the German club.

The player has signed a pre-contract agreement with Dortmund and he will move on at the end of this season on a free transfer.

Sule is well settled in the Bundesliga and he should be able to make an immediate impact with Dortmund next season. Furthermore, the player is yet to reach his peak and he will improve further with experience and coaching.

Signing a player of his calibre on a free transfer could end up proving to be a masterstroke from Dortmund.

“We are pleased that we were able to sign a German national player in Niklas Süle and retain him for four years,” Dortmund’s sporting director Michael Zorc told their website.

Sebastian Kehl, who will succeed Zorc in the summer, added: “Niklas has shown us in personal discussions that he is very interested in Borussia Dortmund.

“He has a lot of experience, calmness in the build-up game and the necessary physique to take the next step with us from the summer.”
